Are you a seasoned paving professional ready to lead teams, manage high-impact projects, and be part of a company that values leadership and craftsmanship? Western Construction is looking for an experienced and motivated Paving Superintendent to guide our paving crews through successful, high-quality asphalt projects across the region.

This is a key leadership role responsible for coordinating all on-site paving operations—from scheduling and crew management to quality control and field communication. You’ll work closely with our Paving Operations Manager and project teams to ensure that every job is done right, on time, and with pride.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Lead and supervise one or more paving crews on highway, parking lot, runway, and street paving projects.
Act as the primary on-site representative for the company—coordinating with clients, inspectors, subcontractors, and employees.
Plan, schedule, and manage daily operations, including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
Provide daily oversight and mentorship to Foremen and field personnel to improve efficiency, quality, morale, and safety.
Review and interpret project plans, specs, and schedules to ensure smooth execution and alignment with client expectations.
Partner with other departments to ensure materials, inspections, and equipment are ready when needed.
Identify and implement field solutions to keep projects on track and on budget.
Work alongside the Trucking Foreman and Mechanics to keep trucks and paving equipment in top shape.
Foster a positive, accountable, and safety-first team culture.

What You Bring:

Ability to pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and physical.
Minimum 5 years of paving or heavy civil construction experience, including leadership roles.
Strong knowledge of paving operations, equipment, materials, and means & methods.
Proven ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate crews and resolve conflicts.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; CDL is a plus.
Strong work ethic, professionalism, and a commitment to safety.
Ability to work 10+ hour days outdoors in all types of weather.

Physical Requirements

Able to physically lift heavy materials (up to 50 pounds) frequently throughout the work shift with or without assistance.
Frequent walking, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
Standing/working on feet for extended periods and walking across uneven terrain, climbing up and down ladders and stairways.
Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, etc.
Frequent exposure to noise, dust, fuel, oil, and other chemicals.
Able to wear personal protective equipment and any other safety-related equipment.
Able to work a minimum of 10 hours a day.
